Privacy Policy for TakeawaysApp V2 (using local storage)
Effective Date: 17th July 2025
Last Updated: 17th July 2025
1. INTRODUCTION
TakeawaysApp ("Takeaways," "we," "us," or "our") is built by Future Visions LLC with a simple promise: your notes stay on your device. Every contact, list, takeaway (note), and question you create is saved locally on your iPhone or iPad and—if you choose—synced to your personal iCloud backup. Future Visions LLC cannot access this content.
By installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. You will be asked to confirm your agreement when you first launch the App.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We gather only what is essential to run and improve the App:
- Device‑linked identifiers. The App does not create its own account. We rely on Apple‑provided, app‑specific identifiers (such as the App Store receipt) to validate purchases and enable iCloud backup. We never receive your Apple ID email or password.
- On‑device data. Contacts, lists, takeaways, questions, and attachments live in a database on your device that is protected by the built-in encryption of iOS. They leave your device only when you choose to back them up to your personal iCloud account.
- Voice input. If you dictate a takeaway, the audio is held in memory just long enough to produce a text transcription, then discarded.
- Anonymous usage metrics. To understand overall usage, we send Mixpanel events such as app opened or takeaway created. These events carry a random identifier that changes periodically to prevent tracking your activity over long periods—never note content or personal details. We will never attempt to re‑identify this data, and our analytics partner is contractually bound to the same restriction.
- Diagnostic data. Crash reports and performance statistics (e.g., launch time) may be sent to Apple‑ or Firebase‑provided tools with a random ID so we can fix bugs.
- Payment information. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple and RevenueCat; we never see your full card details.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
- Core features. Local data, Apple‑supplied identifiers, and purchase status unlock the App’s functionality and paid tiers.
- Voice dictation. Temporary audio is converted to text for your takeaway, then deleted.
- Optional AI answers. When you tap Ask a Question, your question and a collection of your most relevant takeaways are sent via a secure, encrypted connection to our third-party AI provider. This context allows the AI to provide a more accurate and personalized answer. This feature is entirely optional.
- Product improvement. Aggregated, fully anonymised usage and diagnostic metrics highlight popular features and help us make the App faster and more reliable.
- Customer support. If you include an email when sending feedback, we use it only to reply.
- Marketing (opt‑in). With your consent, we may email product news or offers. You can unsubscribe anytime.
4. WHEN WE SHARE INFORMATIONWe share data only with trusted partners for specific purposes:
- Google Gemini (optional AI) – Receives your question and the content of relevant notes you've created to process and respond to your question. We do not store or read these passages. You can review their terms here.
- Mixpanel (analytics) – Receives anonymous event counts and a random device ID; no note content. You can review their policy here.
- RevenueCat / Apple (subscriptions) – Receives purchase identifiers to manage subscription status.
- Crash‑reporting services – Receives de‑identified logs to help fix crashes.
- Legal or business transfers – Disclosed only if required by law or during a merger, acquisition, or similar event.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we never share your contacts, notes, or questions with advertisers. Fundamentally, because your notes and contacts are stored only on your device and your personal iCloud, we do not have access to them and therefore cannot share or sell them.
5. DATA SECURITY
- Device encryption – As stated above, your local database is protected by the hardware-level encryption built into your iOS device.
- iCloud encryption – Apple secures backups in transit and at rest.
- Transport security – All outbound traffic (including analytics, optional AI requests, and crash logs) uses industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 or higher to ensure it is encrypted in transit.
No system is perfect, but we follow industry best practices to minimise risk.
6. DATA RETENTION & DELETION
- Local and iCloud data – You can delete local data anytime via Settings → Clear All Data. Removing the App erases the local database; iCloud backups remain until you delete them in iOS Settings → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- Analytics & diagnostics – Anonymous events and logs are kept for up to 24 months to study trends. Because they are fully de‑identified, they cannot be linked to you and cannot be individually deleted. You may stop new analytics collection anytime via Settings → Privacy.
7. YOUR CHOICES & RIGHTS
- Export – Download a copy of your notes via Settings → Export Data.
- Edit or delete – Change or erase any item, or wipe the entire database via Settings → Clear All Data.
- Marketing opt‑out – Unsubscribe inside the App or through any marketing email.
- California & Europe residents – Additional rights are listed in Sections 10 and 11.
8. CHILDRENThe App is not intended for children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if we discover such data, we delete it promptly.
9. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERSYour notes stay on your device or iCloud. Only anonymous analytics and optional AI requests may be processed in countries outside of your own. These transfers are protected by strong encryption and legal frameworks like Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data is handled securely.
10. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA/CPRA)In the past 12 months, we have collected device identifiers, purchase history, and anonymous analytics events. As described above, your note content only leaves your device if you use the optional AI feature. We do not "sell" personal information as the term is traditionally understood. However, our use of anonymous analytics may qualify as "sharing" under the CPRA. You can disable future analytics sharing anytime via Settings → Privacy. Historic events cannot be removed because they contain no personal data to link them to you.
11. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR USERS IN EUROPE (GDPR)If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, you have certain data protection rights. We have designed our App and practices to honor these rights.
- Legal Basis for Processing: We process your information on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a Contract: To provide the App's core functionality, process your subscriptions, and deliver services you request.
- Consent: To send marketing communications, collect anonymous analytics, or provide optional AI features, all of which you can control or opt out of at any time.
- Legitimate Interests: To fix bugs and improve the App using de-identified diagnostic and usage data.
- Your Data Subject Rights: You have the right to:
- Access, update, or delete your information.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Object to our processing of your personal data.
- Request the restriction of processing of your personal data.

- Withdraw consent at any time. You can exercise most of these rights directly within the App (e.g., via the Export Data and Clear All Data functions). For other requests, please contact us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICYWe review this policy annually. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice within the App or, if you have provided an email, by sending a message to that address. We will provide a reasonable opportunity for you to review the changes before they become effective.
